Relics of the Tempest

A stranger sight was never seen
Not a soul is heard – no voices, not a face is seen

All the ships have sailed, the flights are gone
There’s a house with the windows open..and the TV’s on

They said they knew what’s coming
The experts all agreed
It will come on one fine morning – it’s guaranteed

There’s an empty store, and a vacant shop
And a baseball lies in stillness – in the parking lot

Newspaper blows, down a dusty street
And a billboard shows me a picture – something good to eat

Life will manifest due season – it’s been decreed

The lights are dim and the sky is pale
When the day is done are there any left who can tell the tale

On a crimson sea, and a roaring wave
Their hearts would fail them now if they looked into the grave
