'Til The Light Guides Me Home

'Til The Light Guides Me Home

William DuVall

Dark days tearing me down
Nights are soaked with tears
Our love won’t ever die
Neither will our fear
So we go on after goodbye
Like the seasons changing
Under the all-seeing sky

Some day this pain may be gone
But for now, I chase the dawn
And I can feel you buried in my bones
And I’m afraid but not alone
‘Til the light guides me home

I tried to build upon a dream
Born in our family tree
But all I did was break you down
With my demons and insecurity
It’s a wicked sorrow that makes a man do the things I’ve done
And I can’t blame you for carving up the strength it took to run

Some day I may feel you smile again
When I atone for all my sins
But I belong in this hell I made my own
Still afraid but not alone
‘Til the light guides me home
